The UCR-Office of TRiO Programs is the home of two Upward Bound Programs, (Upward Bound Classic and Upward Bound Oasis), and an Educational Talent Search Program . The TRiO Programs are funded by the United States Department of Education and are educational opportunity outreach programs designed to motivate and support students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Upward Bound and Educational Talent Search Programs assist low-income and/or potential first-generation college students to progress through the academic pipeline from high school to post-baccalaureate programs.
At UCR, the TRiO Programs have been in existence since 2002 and are currently providing services to over 700 students at nine schools in the Banning, Beaumont, Riverside, and San Bernardino areas.
Upward Bound Classic & Oasis Awarded New Grant
The Office of TRiO Programs at the University of California, Riverside is proud to announce that the Upward Bound Programs have been funded for another five year cycle by the U.S. Department of Education. With this new grant, UB Classic will continue to serve the students at Moreno Valley, Perris, and Rubidoux high schools and UB Oasis will continue to serve the students at Banning and Beaumont high schools and will start serving new students at Norte Vista high school. This new grant cycle will keep the Upward Bound Programs at UCR through the 2016-17 school year and will allow the UB staff to continue helping students achieve their goal of attending and graduating from college.
